By George, I think you've got it! That explains Tuesday. GWB was pandering to this crowd, hoping to convince them to vote for one of their own. Seriously, though, the "not too bright vote" is not voting at all, or is mindlessly in one camp or the other.

The perception is that not much is really at stake. The economy is good, things are going well, and neither of these guys is truly inspirational. There are a couple of important things at stake, and the Bush campaign has been working very hard to blur the edges on those (the abortion rights questions especially).
