Is Peapod.com business model for Amesmed.com or even someday AMESDEPTSTORE.com?

Peapod is adjusting by expanding in some areas and consolidating in Texas. What is on the surface of this evolution, does not tell the actual business model that they are operating the peapod business.

In the Framingham, Ma. area they have three Stop and Shop super stores(large supermarkets). Only one is used for Peapod deliveries. They use 5-6 trucks. Business of delivery varies from day to day; so the expenses are hidden in that super store. I estimate that store business is in the $25 million annual revenue range. So, 6 trucks is a little overhead they can expense off. They have been giving out incentives to push deliveries into over $100/order/delivery. So, supermarkets are also developing into catalog business thru Peapod type internet business.

We are of course learning more and more about internet business; it is just a marketing means. Brick and mortar stores(expenses hidden in the overhead) or warehouses(expenses exposed outside of overhead) makes a difference in business model. AMES should learn fast.
