bdog, >I also get a request to insert a serial number zip disk. I have not found anything to explain that one yet.<

My understanding is that every Zip disk has a unique serial number.

>The power point program is several years old and the computer now has win 98 installed.<

The Zip shouldn't care. A file is a file.
But obviously something is wrong here.
I would just bypass by downloading to HD,
then dragging to Zip.

re "I also get a request to insert a serial number zip disk"

that rings a bell. i just got through having fits with a powerquest program called secondchance2.0. if you're not familiar with it, it's rollback software, much like goback by adaptec.

seconchance was really messing with my system. lots of errors, blue screens, crashes. during the course of four installs trying to get it right, i tried doing an incremental backup with my jaz drive and i encountered the same serial number disk error. never had seen it previously. but i had the benefit of seeing all of the instability secondchance was creating, so i wasn't too puzzled by the iomega malfunction.

i finally uninstalled secondchance (for the very last time) and things are peaceful again.

fwiw...

:)
