kv: Are there any that you like?

I have a sort of bias against broadcast news reporters that comes from my education, I guess, with a focus on the print media.

The blending of TV news and entertainment doesn't sit well with me at all <g>

Doesn't take much in the way of writing skills to encapsulate the meaningful facts of a story into a 45-second sound bite.

Political pundits are a different animal altogether, in my mind. Chris Matthews, for example, doesn't appeal to me ... may just be his style ... appears he's in it for the entertainment value (or would that be the bucks? <g> ...

Broadcast news reporters that I think exhibit the idealistic(?) integrity of the profession include Bernard Shaw of CNN; Sam Donaldson; Kokie Roberts ... off the top of my head.

I can also tell you this: it's a hell of a grueling lifestyle for both print and broadcast journalists ... particularly those with anything other than local community beats ... constant travel; huge deadline pressure, equipment 'glitches' (satellite feed problems), etc.
