I got my social security statement yesterday.
It said that according to forecasts SS will be out of money by 2037. which is not too long after I start getting benefits. So it looks like I get to Pay but not receive!!
Maybe they will actually do something about it someday ... I mean besides stealing more money from the ss fund.
Good thing I'm not counting on it.

<<OTOT
Well both parties have been guilty of this misrepresentation of the status of the Social Security funds. Actually, they should be able to lay this out for the American people in a few sentences. Instead we get fed a lot of convoluted double talk. Balance, monthly income, monthly outlays and the interest paid on account.

Voting for president is becoming a choice in the lesser of two evils. It is looking like it is too expensive to allow anyone party to control both congress and the executive branch.

I wish the Democrats would back off most of this social engineering done with our tax money. Then, the Republicans need to be more populist rather than being just for their rich corporate and oil friends. The Republicans refuse to back the McCain Feingold soft money bill. The Democrats say they will back it. But both parties are benefiting from the soft money. This breeds corruption in government.

Ding Ding - Exactly
The democrats throw money at problems
But the Republicans will not even give money to education or the sapce program
The republicans are in the hands of big tobacco, and will trash the environment to boot
The republicans want less government but want to legislate abortion
The republicns want to build a missle system when the real threat is someone building a bomb right here in the US or smuggling a bomb or bio-teck bomb and releasing cholera or something toxic into lake superior

Is anyone in favor of a flat tax
Balancing the budget in a reasonable manner
The right to choose
SENSIBLE gun laws - who the hell needs an automatic gun for protection
Protecting the environment
Phasing out Social Security in a reasonable manner

We have to choose from idiots on both sides
