Been reading The moderated Voltaire's porch. Getting a serious case of de ja vu. I'm a buyer when dealer finally tells Voltaire to GF himself. :) That would be the ultimate sign of capitulation.

<i have a feeling that whatever buying we have seen was by shorts covering... >

There are jabbillions of dollars of 'premium' out there that have been sold by institutions and companies [ie. MSFT & other Co. buyback puts] that traders own, and they buy in there delta's all the way down... it creates 'some' stability on normal days. These are 'rote' "delta players" that will buy until the 'curve' runs out, and they have certainly been buyers but ARE NO MATCH as you know to real selling by institutions... when REAL selling starts there will be gaps a-go-go and stocks being stopped from trading, etc. No doubt the exchanges could close for periods of time.
