I am a very infrequent poster on this thread, although have held NTAP for over a year (and sad to say sold half my position in April as defensive move - the only investment mistake I made this year that I am still kicking my self for).

I was at the Oracle show in SF this week and stopped by the NTAP booth and listened to their pitch. I also and EMC booth.I am not a techie so most of what I hear and saw went over my head.

However, NTAP had their new storage offering there - the new big one. And compared to the EMC behemoths, it looked quite small and sleek. Also, much simpler. The EMC machines had all these connections and wires, etc., while the NTAP machine had what looked like very few parts. First thing I thought of is no wonder NTAP stuff is cheaper.

Also, NTAP folks I talked to definitely present the company as a software company, not a hardware company.

It was illuminating, even though I understood relatively little fo the details.

Bob, Thanks! You're right. It was Milunovich's target price. I don't know Kraemer. Are you familiar with his work? Did he cover NTAP for Morgan Stanley?

Thanks also for Kraemer's Valuation discussion.

Best,

Duncan
