The VIX almost reached 27 today, highest that I recalled in recent months. Several TA pundits recently declared - and supported with figures - that many major bottoms in the past several years were not associated with high VIX in the >30 range, thus we may have seen a bottom in the making this afternoon, at least partially.

My understanding of the VIX, and it is limited, is it takes quite a bit to get from 27 to over 30. Unfortunately.
