RMBS--Rambus Requesting Change of Venue in Hyundai Litigation
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 6, 2000--Rambus Inc. (Nasdaq:RMBS - news) is filing a motion for a change of venue to transfer pending litigation with Hyundai Electronics Industries Co. Ltd. from the U.S. District Court in San Jose to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.

The purpose for filing the change of venue motion is to allow Rambus to move this suit before one court with the pending litigation filed by Rambus against Infineon Technologies in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia and to thus expedite the court proceedings. As part of this consolidation strategy, Rambus has filed a motion to dismiss its pending ITC complaint against Hyundai.

In its response to Hyundai's complaint, Rambus will file suit against Hyundai for alleged willful patent infringement and will seek injunctions to halt the sale, manufacture, and use of Hyundai SDRAM and DDR SDRAM memory devices that infringe the Rambus IP protected by Rambus' US patents. Cases filed by Rambus against Hyundai are already pending in Germany, France and the UK with hearings scheduled to begin no later than February 2001.

Since its incorporation in 1990, Rambus has been the leading company developing and licensing high bandwidth chip connection intellectual property. Rambus' objective is to continue to produce innovations that will benefit the semiconductor and systems industries, and by licensing these innovations to generate a return on investment to its shareholders.
