If not true, why is the current generation of compilers considered lacking?> I think I said it wrong in my original message. My guess is that IA-64 programs benefit more from profiling than those for OOO processors. But profiling is for performance, not necessarily for the architecture and microarchitecture. My knowledge of the compiler situation is sorely lacking, so I won't toss out any more WAGs. Tenchusatsu
