Don:

For anybody dog-paddling around the N. American PC sales scene this summer, the current messy swamp was more than obvious. The saturated PC market environment together with massive finished goods and component inventory levels made a coming tech wreck somewhat obvious (I wrote about it in August, as did a few others). Amazing how long it took for this situation to reach the mainstream press.

<Only a few months ago, the DRAM market appeared headed for a solid second half in 2000. Forecasters spoke of shortages, firming prices, and higher capital expenditures as suppliers prepared to meet 2001 demand>

Yes, this is the drivel that N.Y.-based analysts were (and in some cases still are) feeding the unsuspecting sheep, but the "warnings", and "guidance" are finally starting to make clear how transparent the emperor's new threads really are. (g)

Best, Earlie
