I think there is a philosophical allowance here

Yes. I have thought about that. Although the question is: "Should God be replaced?"--it is not an equal proposition. The cover intro shows up the bias, and makes it clear that the "should (?)" is not a question, but a courtesy.

The "Ask God thread has an intro which would invite something entirely different than what one actually finds. However, the actual usage being made of the thread is all too clear. Therefore, I generally avoid the place (in spite of trial, temptation, and polemical provocation). Blind faith is not an area of competence for me, so I stay away.

When I wrote the thread header, there were infinitely better and infinitely worse choices of words. Unforunately, I did not have an infinite amount of time!

I found the history of the decalog to be interesting. Although there are biblical histories to draw upon, they do not seem (to me) to exhibit the requisite objectivity to warrant inclusion here. As for the two alternates that were posted: Neither of them exactly fit my personal list; but my own list would be an exercise for another day--after I have mastered the art of carving... :)
