Friday, the thought 'this time it's different' kept running through my head. The only obvious thing I could see was that the S&P500 was weaker, in percentage terms than either the DJI or Nasdaq indexes.

After looking at the nice charts in Barrons Trader column, it looks like the S&P500 broke support. Some very bearish looking charts in all, yet I saw continued strength in the 'ugly' cyclical stocks, ie AA, HON, DD, DOW. Sad, as I'd closed my positions early in the week to brace for new opportunities.

Will this time be different? Will we see a climax Monday- or another mini buying panic? Mixed signals make defense the operative keyword for me.
