i'm stunned to read that this fellow is emphasizing the need for more than 256mb ram

Yes, it would seem win2k will require more of everything. Should have deep pocket when installing i reckon'.

I'll take Gottfried's thoughts and install my 64MB mem I replaced with 128mb PC133 when upgrading with the Coppermine 533A/800 from 300a/450. PC100 and PC133 should be compatible, just runs on the slower speeds. 192 mb mem sounds like a nice round number. My resource meter gets pretty low at times with 2 monitors, QuoteTracker Streamer Portfolio on one, 4 charts on other with SI/Ebay/messenger overlay on charts<g>

Regards, /jw

Mark,

I would recommend 256Mg for a high-end box that is going to be running many applications, but I have many Windows 2000 computers running on 128Mg, and a couple at 64Mg (I wouldn't wish that on anyone though :)).

For a standard desktop computer, running Windows 2000 Professional with a decent processor (500Mhz+), 128Mg is just fine.
