Patricia, I don't know the technicals of the bill but we do need tort reform. I have no problem with attorneys accepting cases based on a contingency fee. I do feel they receive exorbinantly high fees though when they do that. When they take from 33% to 40% off the top plus all costs they are being overpaid. And, attorneys are masterful in evaluating cases. They are not going to take a case on contingency unless they have strong convictions the case is one they can win or settle. I feel when a person is injured they have to pay far too much to the attorney. Clinton and Gore have consistently protected the attorneys as they rape the injured plaintiff by taking an excessive amount of their award. Now, punitive awards. I don't think the plaintiff or attorney should share in those awards. They are a fine for bad conduct. That money should go to the people.
