Aside from hype (or more specifically its effectiveness, or lack of), what is the driver of let's say Tereyon's stock price ? Or Yahoo, or Vert, or whatever ?

I think your particular strength, William is that as a person versed in advertising, you have the talent to know when the hype is working and therefore are able to see the logic of buying into stocks that are nothing but hype. I suppose that is the same as knowing that a certain advertising campaign is effective or not. Dummies like me would say "it is obvious that Amazon cannot possibly earn enough money to pay their debts". And I would short it. But an advertising man would not short change the power of hypester analysts to convince the masses that you really can make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. After all, advertising once convinced women that smoking was fashionable, and convinced men that smoking was equal to fresh air and open spaces.
