MSN TO OFFER INTERNET CONTENT ON SPRINT PCS WIRELESS WEB
New York, Oct 05, 2000 (EFE via COMTEX) -- Internet provider MSN reached an agreement Thursday to supply content and services for Sprint PCS, operator of the largest wireless personal computer network in the United States.

The accord will allow customers who own one of the 15 models of Sprint PCS Internet-ready cellular phones to receive MSN content by way of a system known as MSN Mobile 2.0.

Beginning next week, Sprint PCS clients will have access to news from MSNBC.com and personal financial services from MoneyCentral, and will also be able to obtain airline tickets and hotel and car rental reservations at Expedia.com.

They will also be able to send e-mail via Hotmail.com, which currently has around 70 million users, and take advantage of instant electronic messaging.

"We want our customers to be able to access information virtually anytime, anywhere, nationwide," said Chip Novick, Sprint PCS vice president of Consumer Marketing, in a press release.

Sprint PCS began offering its Wireless Web service in 1999.

The firms did not provide financial details of the alliance. EFE
