Dealer: Part of what makes the Porch such a comfortable place to visit is the wide variety of interests and topics frequently touched on, and the gentle, often affectionate respect generally afforded differing opinions. A hallmark of that respect is knowing (both as a participant and an observer)when the line is crossed between sincere, honest enthusiasm/passion/conviction (which we all understand, no matter where we ourselves may fall in on the topic at hand)and the also understandable but not always appropriate compulsion to "prove" something or have the last word. As you say, this is a forum of bright people whose minds don't need to be changed one way or the other. Spoken perhaps, expanded maybe, but everyone here is capable of coming to their own conclusions (certainly of expressing them) and then allowing others to do the same. And then just leaving it at that, if nothing creative or constructive is coming from it. Just bland's bland opinion.
