I suspect the put/call ratio is being manipulated to make the bearish extreme seem more plausible, so as to draw people back into the pool. This indicator has become "too watched". Some money gets thrown into puts to give the market "bottom sentiment" and draw everyone back in, while the smart money is going record short (commercials).

The sentiment indicator of investment advisors bullish% and investment advisors bearish% does not support the put/call ratio bottom sentiment. In other words, there isn't enough bearish sentiment there. What this says is that sentiment indicators are sending mixed signals, so which ones are you going to beleive? Did odd lot short sales spike again (I haven't got a copy of IBD yet to check).? If so, I would be more inclined to believe this will be a good bottom.
