OT: jmac, just some support. For all the words of wisdom here and on many other threads, these volatile markets are not just about numbers. Granted, the numbers have been awesome, both up and down in recent memory. And that is the challenge for all of us. They do affect our psyches, our financial circumstances, and our lives, either + or -.

fwiw, from a new econ investor who has profited handsomely, and also lost a good deal of it after taxes, here is my "gut feel." We are in a bear market where much can make no sense to many of us, just as we were in a rampant bull market, where much made no sense to many also.

One could say that a correction to historical valuations would be appropriate. But if you look at bellwethers like csco, that possibility is still horrible to contemplate. As a new economy bull who has certainly profited handsomely from the bubble, I still shudder to even imagine it. Which is why it is still likely there is not yet sufficient capitulation in this market.

And it is why every investor/trader must consider allocating their assets appropriately: you must plan for the worse case, as well as the best. Easier said than done.

Regards, Rob
