MAcks - Re: "In the world where I live, superior concepts use to have succes on the market. How do you explain that SDRAM has the monopoly of the biggest DRAM market?"

GET A CLUE !!

I am not debating SUPERIOR CONCEPTS.

I am pointing out that BEFORE RAMBUS came up with their concepts of enhancing DRAM speeds, the DRAM manufacturers HAD NO CONCEPTS - PERIOD - except doing what they had been doing for >10 years.

ONLY when an upstart AMERICAN company showed them that speed enhancements to DRAMS was doable, ONLY THEN did they get off their BUTTs and do something on their own- and this was out of self-defense - in order to fend off licensing to RAMBUS.

The proof of this stagnation is the DRAM industry itself - once the dominant profit center for Integrated circuits, the Japanese DRAM manufacturers have slipped from WORLD dominance in the 1980s to nearly complete SUBSERVIENCE - with Korean and Taiwan (and Micron) taking over their business - in the 1990s and year 2000.
