"Further - the low end is now opening up to TransMeta. So, The AMD Kmart Discount business strategy will have to deal with TransMeta - as well as Intel."

(1)The low end looks like its headed for the 800MHz to 1 gig level real quick...Sure hope, for their sake, but I'm not convinced, that AMD's competitors can keep pace with the Duron's evolution in this range...The high end looks headed real quick for 1 gig and up...AMD looks real comfortable to me, and apparently to a fast growing number of consumers, in both these ranges...Can't say the same for the competition, one of which, who seems to be stuck producing xbox processors in the 650 MHz range at a loss!!!

"I'm sure Sanders won't mind selling his Dupalons at a loss - just so SpryGuy can claim some minimal market share in these segments."

(2) Pity the competitors' shrinking ASP's if AMD has to sell at a loss to gain market share in this range...Got a felling AMD's Duron is so good that it will demand a premium in this range before long...
