CChalmers,

Going to Europe for a month. Interested in renting phone. Better to get here or there? Any other suggests.

You might consider buying a prepay phone and throwing it away after a month - it could be cheaper than renting.
You need to ensure that roaming is possible, or that the phone will accept prepay sims from the countries you plan to visit. (It is common to lock phones so that they only accept sims from the service provider who supplied them.) GSM 900 is almost everywhere, but in some countries GSM 1800 is only available in high population density areas.
Prepay phones typically do not support data.

Can you do internet connections with G phone?
