Aus, to add to your comments on the continuing shortage of flash memory of the sort SanDisk provides, I think it is useful to recall that at this time last year, SanDisk mentioned that, despite the shortages in supply, it was still honoring old contracts for flash memory at earlier agreed upon prices. Now it is clear that new contracts are being negotiated at prices more consistent with even higher demand growth than existed last year. If one factors NEW CONTRACT PRICES into the equation, it will become apparent that SanDisk should be enjoying even higher revenue growth than before, not to mention higher profit margins.

Aus,
<< Likewise, the cell phone market (embedded flash products) does not pertain to SanDisk. >>

One of the enabling technologies for the next generation of cell phones will be removable flash memory, IMHO. In fact, I'm not sure the addition of MMC(probably) slots may not be the driver for killer apps on the phone-type devices, instead of the other way around(the apps drive the addition of the slots). Several wireless networks are already at around 56K, with 100-150K speeds coming up in Korea now and the US next year.

I think the upcoming quarterly report from SanDisk will give us a better barometric reading of demand going forward.

Aus, when reading about waning flash demand, I think it is useful to remember Eli's comments last CC.

I can't believe how many people don't understand our business. It is crazy. I just listened to the SSTI call saying that 80% of their sales came from 2Mbit flash. We sell 256Mbit flash. Toshiba, Sandisk, Hitatchi, and Samsung are the only companies that make this, and all of the other flash capacity being added isn't going to alleviate the situation.

As Eli said some time ago, he doesn't see flash capacity catching up with demand for years.
