MSD expected DELL to grow 38% per year over 3 years, to $84 B revenues (when interviewed for Fortune article):

fortune.com

From page 2:
He boasts that Dell can roll over the bad guys even if it does nothing more than flog its core businesses. "If all Dell did was double its worldwide share in the next three years and didn't do any storage or any of this new stuff, our revenues would be $84 billion or something like that," he says. "We have every opportunity to grow significantly faster than the market."

rudedog, Same here in Toronto. DSL provided to consumers by Bell system has managed to shut out all the others from retail DSL by the simple expedient of charging the others more for a DSL line than they charge homeowners.
As a result Bell is alone in residential service at $40/month(10= modem rent, $30=line fee). you can get commercial DSL for $300/month or more. The same line bell seels me for $40 they sell to the commercial opertaors for $105/month.
Bell is into furious and fraudulent foot dragging in makine their local loop available at reasonable rates. There are accusations and requests for hearings and tarriff ruling, with bell dragging their feet all the way to the bank. A DSL link is a cash cow. Modem rents for $10/month and line for $30. Modem is paid for at both ends in less than 6 months. After that they get $40 a month for a line you are already paying retail for. crooks.

Bill

Cable and DSL have pretty much eaten the dial ups for lunch here. Some areas cannot get DSL as they are too far from the central office switch.
Radio link is making some headway with spread spectrum. $40 per month for a radio down, dialup uplink/command link.
