But unfortunately in our political system are forced to choose between two options which contain within them, extremist views from both the left and right.

But you joining in lends legitimacy to it. If you refuse and become more centrist, you get rid of that polarization. I am not a joiner, I'm a rationalist. Bring me your data and let me decide. As I've said, I can demonstrate a restriction of civil liberty in this country. The next four years will probably give us at least 2 more Supreme Court appointments. Republicans seem much more likely to support "do it my fundamentalist Christian way or not at all" mentality and well, what if I'm not a Christian? Then I'm screwed. Never mind that I'm religious. I'm just not Christian.

I've always "done my own thing", even before people called it that. My grandmother the high-school educated, telephone operator and dress shop merchant had very unorthodox opinions. Grandma was cool. There are others out there like, me, mom, and granny. So who do I have to fear?

People that are are sure their right. People who don't like to look at the data. People whose world view centers on narrow-minded, religious or reactionary dogma and want to force that on everyone. People who lack tolerance and compassion for others. We all have to choose our evils. I'm armed, generally compassionate and intelligent. So I say, bring on the dogma because most of it doesn't hold water. And if reason doesn't work, there's always the Desert Eagle .44 magnum gas-operated automatic. <g>.

Edit: That doesn't sound TOO rabid does it? <VBG>
