Dan - RE: "Re: No 1.1GHz available anywhere yet (other than build your own)

Gateway's been featuring them in its small business line for a while now. We started getting them in at work about a month ago."

And built for you, too. ;) I was actually thinking built for you (like through Gateway and Compaq) but still wrote build your own.

I'm just surprised Compaq hasn't come out with a 1.1GHz Athlon system for retail yet. It's been about six weeks, but it may have been this long last year also when AMD came out with 700 and 750 first. We probably have to wait for the new model refresh first.

One thing is for sure, the 1.1GHz Athlon launch was NOT a paper launch. You, clearly, have them and Pricewach vendors are selling product. According to data at JC's site, nine Pricewatch vendors were selling the 1.1GHz Athlon one week after launch.

For those who have forgotten what a paper launch is, just wait for Intel's 1.13GHz relaunch. Dell and IBM may have systems, but that may be all for a while. Actually, the first launch was a perfect paper launch. Dell hadn't shipped any systems for a whole month and IBM sold something like 40 - 100. What a joke!
