MACD as oscillator...
Interesting discussion Teresa, and one of the reasons I love this thread as it forces me to reevaluate things with which I have perhaps become complacent over.
I always thought of macd as an ocillator; it attempts to correlate price to a trend dynamic as opposed to correlating current price to a historical price.....while price doesnt move in a straight line it does move in perceivable trends, and the deviation from the mean(trend) can be used for formulaic interpretation......that being said, and as you alluded to, i find macd best for trendline violations and/or divergences.....the crossovers make my headspin as far as buy and sells go......ian
