The Dems are paying off the national debt. Bush has no such plans. But both parties borrow when they promise more programs than they can afford. The tax cut is just another program. It is borrwed money because the government (our money) has not yet paid off its credit card bills. It is also a buy-the-votes device which it seems both sides use. If one uses it the other has to as well. Lesser of two evils on debt reduction is clearly the dems. Like I said the national debt clock in Times Square was recently taken down. It has begun running backwards for the first time in many many years. Our national debt growth started with Vietnam, peaked with Reagan and Bush and started coming down the past few years. Rubin's decision to start paying it off made the big boom of recent years possible.

A side note though. Sometimes spending money saves you money. Like offering the poor basic cheap health care. Otherwise they ignore their ailments and end up in emergency wards. Preventative medicine. Same with the environment. A lot more expensive to clean it up later. And it's never the same. Also education. etc.

Remember the race riots in LA during the Bush administration?

Bush to me is a cooler-acting more macho Dan Quayle.
He has the image but where's the substance?
