Paul, Ah well, 'twas too good to last. To tell you the truth Dell had better be doing some strategic research on AMD parts. Can you imagine the field day the lawyers will have already at the fall in SP due to management errors in not taking AMD into account? They may already have a case.

Bill

Re: Spurious Dell Rumor... So what did your mom say the articles *were* about, just out of curiosity?

This rumor is (of course) still active on the yahoo board...

One guy claimed a particular line (posted there in some unintelligble converted multi-byte format) said:

messages.yahoo.com
------------------
... [garbled stuff]

The big client (dell) is using non-intc cpu for the first time ...

It is from a pretty big news paper in TW!!
------------------

Given that the poster doesn't know that 'newspaper' is one word, I have my doubts... but perhaps the '(dell)' bit is an assumption on the reader's part, but the rest is true? Hmmm, wishful thinking, I guess...

I agree with your mom.

Someone probably thought by spreading AMD Dell rumor in the weekend, AMD will again drop a couple point due to no announcement, kind of reverse psychology at work.

I am still wondering what that 500K block trade on Friday was all about, two possible explanations,

a. Market taking a dump, so certain fund manager needed cash to buy bargain stock like Priceline.

b. someone's trading entirely based on TA, decided AMD above 24 early Friday was too cheap to sell, so he decided to sell at 21 7/8 and hoping it would serve as a catalyst to drive AMD closer to the proverbial gap, at this point, he and other TA traders will need to sell more to fulfill this lunacy, uh, I mean prophecy.
