And I'm sure have something to do with the problem with retention in the military. However, what a lot of people fail to realize, is many military people stay in because of a feeling they belong to something special. They also have a unique pride in serving their country. When a President asks the troops to follow a certain behavior, and be responsible for a certain code of conduct. They expect him to do the same. Currently, many of our military members have no respect for the Commander in Chief. His values (or lack of them) are not in alignment with their core values. So some have elected to get out, instead of serve a President they can't respect. You may call them silly, foolish or wrong if you like. But it's a major factor in regard to military retention. Gore is a phony who has supported and defending a lying Commander in Chief. No doubt, the troops would feel the same under his stewardship. Many Democrats have gone on-and-on regarding how wrong it was for Republicans to impeach Clinton for lying about his relationship to an intern in the oval office. But what they fail to address, is the fact that many hundreds of young people have been kicked out of the service, dishonorably, for far less than what the President did. Fraternization, and lying about it, has been cause for dismissal. How can we look a 19 year old in the face and kick him out of the service dishonorable because he lied about having a relationship with someone else in uniform. And do nothing to a 50 year old President who should be setting the example? After all, it was mostly the Democrats who made such a HUGE Deal about Tailhook, Clarence Thomas and other incidents. Where they drummed it into everyones head that any behavior similar to it was cause for dismissal? The double standard is appalling. And I don't care where you work, when double standards of this magnitude become common place, people vote with their feet and leave the organization. It's as simple and complex as that. Clinton/Gore have NOT set the example. They have not led in taking responsibility for their misconduct. Military people don't respect phony leaders, so they're leaving in unprecedented numbers.
