Here is something that explains why my black ice defender has gone off so much lately.

According to McAfee and Symantec, a new trojan/virus, identified as the QAZ virus, is infecting Internet users, including cable modem users. This virus spreads itself by infecting notepad.exe over unsecured file and print sharing. The virus also scans other Internet users for open file and print sharing, which has resulted in a substantial increase in the reporting of netbios probes.
