You left out something -- that is the way it always works with a "suckers bet". The alternative is to create something of real and lasting value, rather than just hype it, sucker people, and run like hell. But then, we never even got finished with your definition of a "diversified portfolio" -- LOL.

That's the way it always works. How's it bad?


It is a transfer of wealth concentrated to a samll number of people that were/are insiders. The insiders did not earn their money in this case. Amazon has one of the largest amount of insider sales due to poor aquisitions on their part. I believe it is bad because it sowers the average investor whose money is needed to add capital for new technology. This would be different if the insiders had added something that was useful to other firms.
