My only skepticism about the "wealth creation" theory is that so much of it is in paper. When the "Boomers" start cashing out, it will be interesting to see what the illiquid markets do.

The only real wealth is that which you can keep. Much of the wealth people have is in 401k's and IRAs (and, as such, has never been taxed). People spend like they have real assets in cash equivalents. I wonder what happened to those people who were telling others on SI last year that they were margining against their house.
