hi h.peterson,

some of us will remember the time you helped your brother-in-law. now it's your brother. these guys are fortunate to have you around.

when i finally get around to installing my second hard drive in this machine, i intend to run multiple operating systems just to give them all a whirl. that is, w98se, winme and w2k. in conjunction with partition magic and drive image, i think i should be able to move around from drive to drive and os to os rather freely. then i'll feel more qualified to proffer advice and/or opinions on these matters.

like i told you via pm, don't be such a stranger. we'll let you slide this time on the 2000 post back log.

:)

Hi,

Right off the bat...

1) If he was running Windows 95 on his computer, chances are that he doesn't have the hardware required to either; run Windows ME properly, or take advantages of the new features of Windows ME. Make sure you take a look at the hardware requirements of ME first.

2) As far as I know, you won't have any issues upgrading from 95 to ME as long as you use the full upgrade version of ME, and not the special promotional product that is only good for upgrades from Windows 98.

3) Backup your data before the upgrade. Whenever it's critical that an upgrade go smoothly... it won't.

4) Backup your data before the upgrade. Whenever it's critical that an upgrade go smoothly... it won't. (it was worth repeating)

Good luck,

Rich
