The tone of discourse is frequently discouraging, but it is a mistake to blame it all on Republicans. A lot of the Democrats came in throwing insults around. Also, it is not quite true that all Democrats are demonized. There are Democrats that are in favor: Chris Matthews and Michael Kelly, for example, are given huge credit for acknowledging that Clinton was at fault during the Lewinsky business. However, those Democrats who will say anything in defense of their guys get a lot of blame around here.

A lot depends on what one thinks is a stake in the election. I am sure that most of us will live through a Gore presidency. But there is a feeling that we need to put the Clinton Administration behind us, and need to make progress on other issues, before the culture becomes further degraded.

Is the Republican establishment using the rank- and- file? Perhaps, but if so, it will only become apparent once the Republicans have control of both the White House and the Congress. Thus, if you want to see disillusionment, you should hope for such an eventuality<VBG>......

RBaron, you obviously haven't been reading this thread for very long to come to the conclusions you have.

Let's try and put things in perspective shall we? It was the Democrats who only a few years ago claimed Republicans wanted to "Starve the elderly", "starve children" and "pollute our water supply". These are actual Democratic party talking points spoken by nearly every member of the Democratic party in Congress a few years ago. So, I think it's a bit disingenuous of you to portray this one sided historical view of events.

As to this thread. We've discussed nearly every subject under the sun in an informed way here in the past. It's only been the last month or two where the Democrats (realizing they had no Al Gore thread) started posting innuendo and rumor as if it was fact. These innuendo have included many insults to the posters.

I've often wondered why they didn't just start an Al Gore thread. But I've come to the conclusion, they're actually too embarrassed about his selection to put their name on the head of such a thread.

Nuff said....
