Michael: Well it's inevitable that the LEC's will try to invade each others local "turf." And I'm sure they'll proceed to add a new "ingredient" to the LEC/CLEC local wars currently well underway.

But the LEC's trying to compete outside their "natural" monopoly zones will have the same problem intrinsic to the sector. That is....they won't own the local plant (read here fiber/copper in the ground, etc.) and will have to go to the local monopoly in a goodly number of instances for it. No different than QWEST, WCOM, Teleport, et.al.

And to me there's a certain poetic justice in that. ;-)

I find it interesting that WSTL

that HiCap is currently working on this SDSL stuff that SI poster 'add' has been referring to. Now, from every analysts' data, I have seen no concept of the SDSL biz coming from HiCap. This type of move would remove the vague "0" growth business drag on the corporate price multiple going forward.

Look for more info in this arena come next qtr. Meantime, we get bludgeoned with the market.
