I'll have to get back to you with more precise data, but almost all gun murders are with pistols not semi-auto
rifles. Real assault rifles are fully auto (or burst) capable rifles most of which in the US are controlled by the
military. They were all ready highly regulated before the ban of so called "assault weapons". I say so called because there is no good definition of them. They are not assault weapons by the classic definition. They are semi-auto weapons that get defined by law as "assault weapons" because of features like a bayonet lug or a
flash suppresser. I guess we desperately needed the law to stop the rash of drive by bayonetings.
