of course that's what the comment was meant to convey. and that's precisely what i find so objectionable.

if, for instance, the comment was, "The rock band's 1996 album ``Bringing Down the Horse,'' sold about six million copies worldwide", then that would be an example of trying to show that jakob has had some success on his own.

but adding, "-- reportedly more than any of his father's albums ever sold" makes the comment ignorant, in the beastie boy/michael jackson sense.

to put it another way, the author is fool enough to compare jakob to his father in a battle of record sales... while any one who knows dylan also knows that he has thumbed his nose at society for the last 40 years, not exactly a recipe for pumping those numbers.
