Only the government has tanks, and nukes (I hope), and biological weapons (although I grant you there are terrorist incursions into this area). What kind of parity between citizenry and government do you want?

Should we all have a family smart bomb?

Well- - that's really not what you asked at all. You posted what is probably the most controversial picture of the decade and added an obviously sarcastic, rhetorical remark ("Would you disarm these wonderful people as well?"--

The topic wasn't about the arming of our military or police force, but about the control of firearms in the populace, (as I understood it) and the validity of statistics. Your comment seemed disconnected and intentionally provocative.
Which is fine, as long as you say so. Or even if you don't.
Personally I thought it was off-the-wall.
But my answer is no I wouldn't disarm those wonderful people.
And I think it is to the credit of the family that they DIDN'T have any weapons, because they could have had and it was rumored before hand that they did.
