I did not mean to say that I like the soft demand conditions. I was just pointing to a silver lining in the cloud.

<And Gateway Athlons are discounted to begin with.>

In my estimation, Gateway sells more 1.1GHz Athlons than all the other players combined. I am sure AMD's ASPs at Gateway are better than at any other large OEMs (especailly Compaq, which seems to have gotten into a habit of staying mainly at the low-end). So, I think the discounting at Gateway is cool. I wouldn't ming if AMD discounts a little bit more to get Dell ;-)
