I think we've demonstrated the power of the Internet. Reading between the lines of the SSB report I saw:

o Intel ASP's are dropping like a rock on the spot level. There's a chance they could even miss their 3% to 5% revenue growth range IMO. The fact that Celeron prices fell the most and (according to JJ), Intel increased Celeron production, may mean that Intel decided they will give up market share in the high end to AMD but not in the low end. They have at least a temporary advantage in the low end because there aren't many Duron systems out there

o flash memory prices per bit are barely dropping any more. The higher density chips, where AMD sells the most, didn't drop at all. Considering that BIT GROWTH will be over 100% in the next year, I think its only a matter of time before flash memory is considered high-growth again.

Petz and Doug, Re: <JJ and SSB-ANALyst.

Good catch Prez! I've often asked "Where do the ANALyst's come up with this stuff?", I think you've provided some real insight into this matter.

As for "my assistant did it": The Captain of an airliner can never explain something that goes wrong with the words "The co-pilot did it.". The Captain is always the sole person responsible no matter what or how something happens. So it is with the Boss, he's responsible for everything that leaves his office. One can delegate authority but one can never delegate responsibility!

I think the kind of analysis that is done by the members of the AMD threads is world class and infinitely better that that provided by the popular brokerage houses, at least everyone here pretty much knows about vested interests each poster has and can weigh different arguments in that light. Not so with the "big" boys, no telling what position they are aligning themselves with or why when they release their reports. It can take months to gain insight into what really happened.

I think it's called integrity (or the lack of). It's an easy thing to lose and not many finish with it still intact.

Again thanks for the catch.

Kindest regards,
CrazyMan
