Re:"brokers tell us..."

Now that the knife is stuck in it needs to be twisted.

If JJ added the "brokers tell us" line SSB has a serious problem on their hands IMHO.

If the assistant told JJ "yah I just got off the phone and the brokers tell us" then the assistant needs to find a new job. Any way you cut it there is to much $$$ money at stake to be taking information from the UKR and putting it into a brokerage report.

Someone needs to take the fall for this one.

doug - Wasn't Salomon - the predecessor to Salomon Smith Barney - almost "disbarred" from dealing in United States Treasury bonds - because of illegal activities in their purchase - and subsequent lying about it to the Government about 10 years ago?
I recall it cost John Gutfreund, the former Chairman and CEO of Salomon - his job. Only Warren Buffett's intervention saved the company from complete disaster.
Seems like old habits die real hard at Salomon.
