re: still bookmarked.

Yeah, right. Only a certified idjit would still have this thread bookmarked. You don't think if anybody actually had it bookmarked that they'd ADMIT to it, do you?

I suppose the next thing you'll tell me is that FBNA still gets emails and/or requests for corporate brochures.

I'd believe that about as much as I'd believe anybody would fall for stories about fully automated Y2K fixes, Mobile Attack Vehicles, Papal Blessings, or other such clever (albeit obviously unreal) manifestations of nothing.

If you think anybody is gullible enough to actually have fallen for that first great FBNA spoof, I suppose you'd also suggest that there are those who would scream their throats hoarse trying to communicate through their computer monitor via FunPhone (www.funphone.com).

You expect anybody to take your comments seriously?

Get real.

Long live nothingness!

March 4, 2001.

This is the first 2001 post to the thread that broke the all time activity record at SI.

And, who gets the first post in 2001?

Why, the same person who got the first post in 2000 *AND* in 1999.

A mathematician would detect a trend right about now.

I wonder if the Post-Grub Rules Committee ever decided whether "annual first posts" received extra points for the poster's alertness? If so, we'd really put that ruling to the test with this "annual first post". I mean, how alert can we be if the annual first post is in March? Last year's annual first post was in October. What does that say about our state of alertness?

If that mathematician is correct about the trend, next year's annual first post will be sometime in November of this year. Now, that would REALLY stretch the limits of the new ruling. Assuming we have one.

This thread was a fun experience. Just think of all the players who were involved, and their attitudes and opinions at the time. There were plenty of situations that had to come together at the right time to make this experience possible. I doubt anything like this will ever occur again.

Ahhh, memories.

Hmmmmm ... what the heck. Why couldn't it occur again?

Hey! Here's an idea! April 1st is right around the corner!

Sure is a pretty day.

Just as I predicted in the prior post ... this year's first post was in November.

I wonder if this post will put us in SI's Hot Subjects list?

Note that I now have the 1st post on this thread for FOUR straight years.

The Hall of Fame awaits me.
