This post highlights exactly what is wrong with the Democratic parties philosophy. Everything is seen as a "I win you lose" situation. It never occurs to Democrats that both oil interests and the public interests could be met. In other words, win-win outcomes are anathema to Democrats.

American oil companies aren't the publics enemy. The same goes for American pharmaceutical companies. They provide a valuable service to consumers. In the case of drug companies, they save far more lives than Al Gore ever dreamed of saving. America leads the world in Research and Development on cutting edge drugs, and it's because they are rewarded for those long term efforts.

Drugs are more expensive in the United States because we are the wealthiest country in the world. The same economic factors which effect shoe prices, or razor prices, or shampoo prices, are the same economic factors effecting the price of drugs. Extremely high research and development costs are offset by the wealthiest countries. This is simple economics 101, yet these concepts seem to escape far too many Democrats.

Business and government should work in a cooperative way for the benefit of everyone. Gore treats many industries like the enemy instead of the driving force of our economic machine.
