Thread- Just kind of thinking aloud. Maybe someone with some detailed knowledge of ADCT's positioning can add some comments to my general thoughts.

My interest in ADCT is rekindled because of their push to become an optics component supplier. After I sold most of my position six months back, I kind of lost track of their positioning. I was blown away by Cadogan's recent plan to generate $1 billion in optical business in 2001. Here is the url to the PUBLIC post: Message 14372083 ...I went to their website and see they are putting heavy emphasis on their optical products. Will they execute on their optical plans?

I am slightly concerned about Carrier Access(sym:CACS) earnings warning and what that may imply for ADCT. I can't find the figure now, but the CLEC exposure ADCT faces is considerably less than what CACS faces. But there is a CLEC exposure if memory serves me correct.

And I'm also concerned about ADCT's exposure to Europe. Here is a PUBLIC post I did about this prior to their last earnings announcement: Message 14055147 ...so I'm just wondering if ADCT may indeed warn due to the weakness of the Euro? Do they continue to generate roughly a quarter of their sales in Euros? If so, that'll be a tough one to overcome. But overcome they did, last quarter. Will they do it again this time?

If ADCT does warn, it won't be pretty. So it's kind of hard to decide when to buy into ADCT.

On the other hand, I'm wondering if HDSL sales(they may be recaputuring market share back from Adtran?) may make up for any shortfall due to loss of CLEC sales and the Euro induced problems? So the real questions are-- Has HDSL come through for ADCT? Has Avidia done anything for them lately? What exactly will their newly acquired optical components divisions bring in for them?

Anyone have any opinions or facts about this quarter? -MikeM(From Florida)
