Yes, never stayed at the Trop. Did not really care too much about the cost of admission but when you think about it all it is is a room. We spend very little time in the room.

One friend who has money to burn* booked Bellagio for over $800 per room per night, he told me yesterday. The rationale was so he could play Shadow, or Shadowbox, or whatever the course is called.

They told him only preferred players can play that course. He offered to pay $2000 over and above to play the course, they said no.

I don't know where he changed his reservation to but it has to be a lot less coin. The only reason he wanted the rooms at Bellagio was to get the tee time.

(Never saw an SI post with a footnote before, have you? Neither have I. I thought it would be kool to do, the first ever "footnote post" grub.)
