upside.com;

Yep, yet another reason for a simplified tax system...
Too bad the lawmakers like the flexibility of the tax system that gives "them" control and will not likely give it up easily.
OTOH, you seem to like to paint the "rich" with a broad stroke using a narrow brush....

Scumbria,

Companies don't pay taxes. They collect taxes from their customers on behalf of the government.

Scumbria,

The question is why isn't AMD getting this tax break? The many options that Jerry and Co. are cashing over the past few months ought to reduce their tax rate for the next few quarters.

Scumbria,

They were talking about a CNN poll re Bush vs Gore when I was at the gym today. It was disconcerting, of course, to learn that Bush was pulling ahead since I plan to vote for Gore.

But what blew me out of the water is that the majority of Americans find Bush more likeable and more believable, especially during the debates. Interestingly enough, they believe Gore is more capable of doing a competent job.

I was so disturbed, I checked out the poll when I got home to make sure I heard correctly. Forgetting Bush's political stance for the moment, every instinct in my bones tells me he is not to be trusted. Further I don't get that he's that committed to doing a good job. And yet that's not how the majority see it.

I guess I find it weird to see things so differently. And I don't have an explanation for it...not that I am expecting you to have the answer but I thought you might find the poll interesting. Check it out in the link below.
