Edwards wrote about the typical American investor's unwillingness to take a loss still holds true.


That's probably right. It is difficult to sell at a loss. But the urge to reduce one's taxes is a powerful one. How many people take huge mortgages just to avoid paying taxes when in reality, they are paying their money lender as much or 1 1/2 times as much in interest? A whole lot, in my observation.

I think we'll see some vigorous tax-loss selling this year. And if it starts feeding on itself, it won't be pretty.
