Re: Vilar, I"m an unabashed bull on technology stocks." My first reaction to his statement and the preceding one "The world doesn't understand technology." was a self-satisfied smirk. I'm a gorilla game investor. I've always invested in tech stocks but now it's more intelligently done, in company with Uncle Frank, Mike Buckley, DownSouth and the other wise men. My second reaction however is that we should put our guard up against all such statements. Vilar is after all yet another guru. Of course he became rich but so did Buffett with an entirely different strategy. There were the Hunt brothers, billionaires with a fatal attraction to commodities. The fact that he is bullish on our type of stock should mean zero to us. Otherwise we will overpay. It's that simple.
I think the world does understand technology, meaning specifically, the rewards from technology companies. QCOM early this year was an exception, not typical. Most gorillas sell for high prices, as they should, suggesting that the world understands, at least partially.
